The human body is naturally wet, sticky, and so forth – a living organism after all. Yet, those aspects of the body are regularly concealed. Basic bodily functions, such as menstruation, are for example often stigmatised and subsequently hidden from public view. Likewise, people who do not conform to conventions and openly show and express their more naturally are regularly disciplined or shamed. In summary, the human body is socially 'dried out' via hegemonic notions of morality, beauty, and gender roles. The photographs attempt to retell this story, by juxtaposing a close, direct glance at wet, naked skin with the title »Dry«.
