This catalogue lists every permanent item in my former household. The creation of this dataset was mainly inspired by the 'actor-network theory' (ANT). The ANT analyses social worlds by mapping them as networks of hybrid actors. Likewise, the agency, identity, and similar properties of those actors are not inherently linked to them but are seen as the outcome of the relations within socio-material networks. Thus, by indexing an analytical frame — in this case, my household — a holistic and close perspective on the selected social world becomes possible. This process invites deciphering the meaning, role, and effect of each item and how it is used to construct the social world in question. Consequently, the dataset presented offers a gateway to comprehending how our social world is put together and 'made up'.
While examining the catalogue, you can reveal the photo of each item by hoovering your mouse pointer over the entry. Note however that some images are blurred to protect certain personal information.
